Since 2003 I was fascinated by this picture of a calendar sheet in a fishing calendar. After sending a request to the author I was kindly allowed to use it on my website. But I did not know where the picture was taken. Then the following happened. Autumn 2010 I bought a fishing licence for river Ilm and was fishing up the river below of Buchfart. Being absorbed in fishing I waded through the town bit by bit. When I could not go any further, my eyes swept away from the water for a moment. And there it was standing right in front of me – the homepage of my website.

Winding rings onto the dip coated rods completely prevents moisture from getting into the rod blank. Although its aesthetic is much debated.

Fly-fishermen do not only catch fish, but eat it as well. After each day of fishing in river Soca a visit to the hotel Hvala in Kobarid became a tradition. The TOPLI VAL restaurant which is known all over Europe offers amazing fish dishes.

When I caught this wonderful rainbow trout I was all alone at the river Soca. Some hiking Slovenians kindly helped to take a picture if the fish. Thanks to my visiting card, the pictures of the proud fisherman arrived earlier at home than he himself.

At the rodmaker-meeting in Sansepolcro in Tuscany I was allowed to admire an original rod of the master.

My rodmaker-colleagues were also „philippsophical” about the Garrison 209-E.

At the rodmaker-meeting in Italy Rolf rousingly told me of the headwaters of river Kupa in the Risnjak national park.

…so I went there. The expression on my face tells it all.

It is also nice to fish with a spliced rod in the local river Helbe near Wasserthaleben.

He is proudly presenting the bycatch of carp breeding. I think it was a passion for him. Eagerly I kept the old pictures. I remain in deep respect.

This rod and quiver a friend of mine got for his birthday. Shining eyes are better than money…but you cannot eat them.
